Spotlight On… Neighbourhood House Governance Resources
Reflect. Discuss. Strengthen.
Collaborative governance resources for Committee and Board Members across the Neighbourhood House sector.
Spotlight On… is an initiative developed by the CHANH, RANCH and EGNHN networks to support Committee Members, Board Members, Network Managers and staff to strengthen governance practice across the sector.
Responding to sector discussions, insights, emerging learnings and member feedback, Spotlight On… brings together practical resources, tools, ideas and discussion topics that can be explored at any stage of a committee’s governance journey.
Whether your committee is inducting new members, reviewing its roles and responsibilities, planning for the future, strengthening compliance, or exploring good governance practices, these resources are designed to encourage helpful discussion and practical action. We encourage members to adapt the ideas to their local context and use them as a starting point for further learning, discussion and continuous improvement.
Importantly, these resources are not intended to provide all the answers. They are designed to support discussion, build confidence and encourage committees to connect with one another and with their local networks for further guidance and support.

How to Use These Resources?
There is no right place to start.
You might:
- Explore a topic that relates to a current committee challenge
- Use a resource as the basis for a board or committee discussion
- Review governance practices against the ideas presented
- Share resources with new committee members as part of their induction
- Return to topics over time as your organisation grows and changes
We encourage committees to engage with the resources in ways that are most relevant to their organisation and stage of development.
Need More Information?
If a resource raises questions, sparks ideas, or highlights an area where your organisation would benefit from additional support, we encourage you to reach out to your local Network Manager.
Network Managers can provide:
- Governance advice and support
- Guidance on sector resources
- Information about upcoming network events
- Connection and referrals to additional learning opportunities and peer networks
Together, we can strengthen governance, support volunteer leaders and build resilient, thriving Neighbourhood Houses and community organisations.
